Day 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai – Bac Ha
You will be collected at your hotel in Hanoi by our English speaking guide at around 7:30am before commencing your drive to Lao Cai, where you’ll stop for a quick lunch.
After eating we stop at the H’mong Kings house, which was built by the French and Chinese in 1920 leading to a unique fusion of architectural styles.
After this you will finally begin your trekking by heading to the Flower H’mong community in Ban Pho Village. After spending some time here to learn about their culture, you will continue to Na Hoi Village, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night with a local family. Today’s treks total about 3-5 kilometres.
Day 2: Can Cau Market – Bac Ha Trekking
After enjoying a home-cooked breakfast in the homestay, we will drive you to Can Cau Market via Bac Ha Town. Although this market is smaller than others in the region, it has retained much more of its original authenticity, which gives it a unique appeal.
Once finished at the market, you will continue trekking from Ta Giang Pho to Thuy Ngai, which is a route littered with spectacular views in every direction as you’re surrounded by wild and beautiful landscapes occasionally interrupted by orderly rice terraces. You’re sure to run into some local Red Dao or Black H’mong along the way who will want to stop for a quick chat. Todays trek is about 12 to 15 kilometres, and once you reach Thuy Ngai you will be picked up and driven to Na Hoi village for another dinner and overnight stay with a local family.
Day 3: Bac Ha Market – Sapa
Today you will trek to Bac Ha Market. On arrival you can spend some time among the locals perusing the many enticing stalls, as this is one of the most colourful markets in Northern Vietnam, looking more like a festival than a simple market.
Once finished at the market, you’ll get an opportunity to relax your sore feet on a cruise along the Chay River. You’ll float along its calm waters, enjoying the scenery, before disembarking and driving back to Sapa for lunch.
After lunch we set out into Muong Hoa Valley, which is the most famous part of Sapa, and is filled with the iconic rice paddies rippling across the mountains. The trekking today is between 3 and 5 kilometres, before driving to your homestay in Ta Van for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Sapa – Hanoi
After breakfast it’s time for your final trek, which will be roughly 3 to 5 kilometres long. You’ll make your way through the verdant valley to visit two villages, one inhabited by the Black H’mong, and the other by the Dzay. In the Dzay village you will be served lunch by a local family and then picked up for your drive back to Hanoi via Lao Cai, arriving at around 6:30pm.
